Drawing with light

2014 / Photography

A light painting is created by the movement of a light, using a slow camera shutter speed, to create a image. Because this type of photography requires a long exposure. it is usually done at night or in a dark room. The exposure values typically range from 1 seconds to 30 seconds or more which is usually called ‘bulb mode’ of the camera.

Process

The camera is mounted on the tripod and operated by remote to avoid shake. Shots were made in M mode with 5 or more seconds exposure. The above cited light sources were used as brushes for painting. In certain photographs, a set of cellophanes were used to cover white LED lights to  obtain colored patterns.
